Outwith peak times (normally School / public holidays) we try to be flexible with collection and return times, however this is not always possible.

All collections and returns are from our base in Denny.

10. Can we collect or return anywhere else?

No, you can only collect and return our motorhomes to our base in Denny.

11. How does the insurance work?

Once the hire documents are completed all the named drivers will have fully comprehensive insurance cover for the duration of the hire.

There is also breakdown cover should anything go wrong.

We strongly recommend that you also have a suitable travel insurance policy for this type of holiday

12. What documents do I need to supply?

The lead hirer will need to submit driving licence, two current domestic bills showing the same address as the drivers license plus 1 other form of photographic identification, preferably a passport.

All drivers will need to comply with our insurance conditions as well as provide a copy of their drivers licence and for UK drivers a DVLA check number.

13. We have never hired a motorhome before can you give us some recommendations?

The majority of our customers have never hired a motorhome before.

We would always recommend staying at campsites for a minimum of 2 nights, this gives you plenty of time to explore the area you are staying in. If you book into a different site each night you will feel you are constantly on the move i.e. you check into a site around 2pm, you get the vehicle sorted on your pitch and probably start heading out to explore your surroundings around 3pm, the bummer is you have to start packing up again the next morning at 10am as you have to be offsite at 11am.

14. Do I have to stop at campsites?

We do recommend staying a few nights in campsites as facilities such as chemical toilet disposal are required to dispose of chemical waste appropriately.

There is no legal right to park up on the roadside, therefore before planning any camping outwith campsites we would suggest that you make yourselves aware of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and local guidance as there may be restrictions regarding parking in certain areas and car parks and permission may be required.

15. How much do campsites cost?

Typically campsites are around £15-£30 per night and this usually includes electric hookup and use of the facilities.

Park4night is a great app which focuses on finding places to park overnight, including campsites, pub car parks, and lay-bys, often for free.

campsites.co.uk & pitchup.com are also great sites.

16. Can I go to music festivals?

Please speak to us before you book to enquire whether we can allow the vehicle to be taken to a festival.

17. Are there any campsites you would recommend?

Sunnyside Croft Touring & Camping Site in Arisaig, its an excellent site located next to the beach.

Milton Of Fonab Caravan Park, Pitlochry, this campsite is absolutely pristine and in a great location, ideal for your last night as its only around 1hr 20mins back to Denny.

Caolasnacon Caravan & Camping Park, between Glencoe & Kinlochleven, another great campsite right on the waters edge and surrounded by mountains.

Two other campsites closer to home & ideal for your last evening before returning your vehicle are Witches Craig & the Blair Drummond Caravan Park (kids play park in the middle).

18. How long will the gas provided last?

Gas usage will vary depending on 3 main factors:

  1. Summer vs Winter (usage in winter will be higher).
  2. If you are hooking up to electricity or wild camping.
  3. Individual usage from one customer to another.

The equipment in the motorhome (fridge and heating for example) is designed to run off electricity and gas and will automatically switch between them depending if you are hooked up or not.  It will also use the vans engine for certain appliances like the fridge when driving.

If you are doing a mix of hook up and wild camping in the summer then 6kg should last 1 week to 10 days as it will be warmer.

In the winter it could be anywhere from 4 days to 1 week.

However this is just an estimate as it can vary dramatically from one customer to another.  Gas cost depending on time of year is around £35-38 per bottle.  We would suggest if you think you are going to be a higher user or doing more wild camping or hiring for 1 week or more in the winter to add the extra gas.  Taking into account the fuel cost alone to drive to get extra gas and the hassle its always better to have and not need that to need and not have.

19. Does the motorhome have a bike rack?

All our motorhome have fixed bike rakes for 4 normal bikes or 2 electric bikes.

(This is do to the weight of electric bikes).

PLEASE NOTE

You'll likely need to swivel the handlebars on the bike that sits nearest the motorhome (for clearance) so we suggest having tools to allow you to adjust the position of the handlebars and the driver must make sure they are secure for travelling. (Extra straps maybe require) Not Supplied.

20. Does the motorhomes have isofix for child seats?

Yes all our motorhomes are Iso Fix.

21. How many people can I take?

Depending on the vehicle hired, our motorhomes have seat belts for up to 6 and can sleep up to 6 people.

However our terms and conditions only allow a maximum of 4 adults per booking.

22. I’m a bit concerned about the size of the Motorhome when it comes to driving?

Our Motorhomes range from 5.9m (for the T line 590) to 7.4m (for the Auto Roller 746).

If you are unsure about the larger vehicle why not hire our T-Line 590?

It’s only around 1m longer than your average car! Though as with all motorhomes they are wider than a car. It’s a 4 berth and very luxurious as it’s the highest spec in the range.

23. Where can I go?

As long as you stay on paved roads that are suitable for this size of vehicle then we have no restrictions (except the Applecross Pass, also known as Bealach na Ba, this road is at the start of the NC500 and is signposted as not suitable for motorhomes, there is a detour on the left once you get to the signpost).

For your comfort, we would suggest not to do more than 80-100 miles per day.

We would also advise not to be travelling on ferries or to be doing a lot of driving the day before you hand the motorhome back.  This is to avoid any unforeseen circumstances such as a ferry cancellation or road closure.

By returning the motorhome late you could be affecting another family's holiday.

We do not allow our motorhomes out with mainland UK and the Scottish Islands.

24. Can we view a motorhome before we hire?

Yes, however this would only be possible through appointment only as often all our motorhomes are out on hire.

25. Do you have any motorhomes with automatic transmissions?

Yes, we have both automatic and manual transmissions.

26. Is there somewhere to leave my car?

Yes, you can leave your car when you pick up your motorhome.

Vehicles are parked at owners own risk.

If you have any other questions not covered on the above then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
